The Davenport Hybrid Machine offers users precision and flexibility in their manufacturing efforts. Simpler setups, faster cycle times, and a conventional Computer Numerical Control (CNC) interface make it easy to integrate the Davenport Hybrid Machine into virtually any workflow. This five-spindle screw machine’s ability to hold tight tolerances, with exceptional accuracy, has been proven via rigorous testing.
The Hybrid Machine takes the best mechanical features of Davenport’s screw machines and integrates them seamlessly, with the precision provided by advanced CNC technology. Features of this multi-spindle screw machine include:
4th Position 2-Axis CNC Slide
Gone are the days of dovetail slides, tapered gibs, and the constant adjustments and quality issues that go along with them. Our new CNC slides are modular in nature, so customers are not limited to using older style Davenport tooling. They are built upon rigid, pre-loaded linear rail technology, like you would expect to find on high-end CNC lathes and mills.
Next Generation Controls
Our new, state of the art, CNC control package boasts a 15-inch, color touchscreen display, engineered for a rugged machine shop environment. The large screen size allows operators to combine multiple pages into a much more user-friendly layout. Color-coded information is easier to absorb than text, and allows us to direct the operators attention to the most vital information quickly.
High Volume Chip Conveyor
The Hybrid boasts a 22” wide chip conveyor belt built into the base pan. The conveyor and pan have been designed as a 360° wash-down system. As chips fall onto the sloped pan surfaces, everything is washed down into the chip load zone of the conveyer by the oil. You’ll get more chips out of your machine without manual intervention, and those chips will be drier.
High-Pressure Coolant
The Hybrid integrates Chip Blaster high-pressure coolant pumps, which deliver up to 10.5 gallons per minute to a ceiling-mounted manifold. The manifold directs coolant to up to 8 tools at any point in the cycle. It’s fully programmable, so coolant is only flowing when the tool is in the cut.
All New Machine Base
Our new and improved machine base has doubled the volume of coolant that the Hybrid Machine can hold, with minimal increase to the machine’s overall footprint. The machine’s mass increased by approximately 25%—roughly 2000 pounds. Integrated structural supports also help improve rigidity and machine dampening.
LED Lighting
The Hybrid features four powerful LED work lights, which allow for 2x the light of other machines, and no shadows to interfere with the operator’s visibility.
New Tool Holders
The Hybrid features a first- and second-position rigid integral mounting dovetail interface. Our setup ensures that all positions are high-pressure coolant ready, and features a carbide insert for form, skive, profiling and cutoff. Our rigid integral mounting dovetail interface also allows for a fully-adjustable center height and taper. Operators may leverage the capability of the adjustable stop for tool positioning.
